- Performance and Service
M.K.B. Mineralien Kontor Bremen GmbH was founded 1st January 1994 in Bremen.
Getting started in an office container, the four founding members, who in those days already had years long experience in handling dimension stones, layed the foundation to develope one of the major importers of dimension stones in Germany.
One of the main reasons for the success of MKB is based on the acquisition of a 20.000 m² -site within the industrial port of Bremen.
To be successful in the global market it is of vital importance to be situated close to a sea harbour, to have the best opportunities in terms of logistics – and to serve the customers at our best.
Right from the start we imported whole shiploadings of granite cobblestones from Portugal, and with an average purchase quantity of 40.000 tons a year we are number one in Portugal.
Shortly after that, in 1996, the first bulker arrived from China with approx. 10.000 tons of granite kerbstones, which were discharged conventionally. Many other ships were to follow, and made us become one of the largest byers in Germany of granite kerbstones form the north of China as well.
What had begun in a rather modest way, at least in regard to the number of staff, was to expand consequently and continuously. In 2000 we moved to our new office building.
Meanwhile our staff counts 15 employees, 12 of them are in the commercial business, three staff members handle the storage.
Since we hold a 500 m² indoor – exhibition hall, which was inaugurated in 2006, we can offer a weather proof opportunity to gain a broad insight on the versatility of dimension stones.
Last year we established sample surfaces in our outdoor area. It markes a preliminary end of the continuing expansion of MKB
In 2007 we recognised the need to qualify skilled trainees and generated an apprenticeship place in the wholesale and foreign trade sector with the focus on dimension stones.
Of course we will do everything to expend our know-how in order to be able to meet our costumers and the challenges of the market.
